The Grubrìa Park owes its name to the union of two pre-existing parks: the Grugnotorto Villoresi Park and the Central Brianza Park. For a total of more than 2,000 hectares of greenery and recreational opportunities.
Parco Grugnotorto Villoresi
The park stands as a link between the Parco Nord Milano, Parco delle Groane and Parco della Valle del Lambro. Despite being inserted in a highly urbanized context that results in the fragmentation of green areas, the park preserves corners of naturalistic interest. The territory sees the alternation of cultivated fields with still active farmsteads and green areas. Reforestation works have been undertaken by environmental associations and there is also a historic forest, the Beautiful Forest, in the Varedo area.
The park also contains a pond that is an example of the environmental restoration of a sand and gravel quarry. It is divided into two portions, one of which is used for fishing (it is possible to catch carp, sturgeon, Russian grayling, catfish, etc.), while the other is home to moorhens, ducks, geese and wild swans. Herons have also been spotted.
What to do in the park
There are several bike and pedestrian paths mapped within the park, to which is added a health trail at the Oasi dei Gelsi in Paderno Dugnano.
The many species that inhabit the park will satisfy the curiosity of birdwatchers.
Fishing at the North Lake Park (or North Quarry) in Paderno Dugnano.
Environmental education for schools.
In the vicinity of the park, it is possible to visit some sites of cultural-architectural interest, such as Villa Bagatti Valsecchi and Villa Agnesi in Varedo, the Milanino Garden City in Cusano Milanino, or the small Lombard church of Sant'Eusebio in Cinisello Balsamo.
