The Lambro Valley Park extends from Monza to Erba along the course of the Lambro River for about 25 kilometers. In this stretch the river flows in a natural valley of glacial origin. The importance of the river is evidenced by the presence of 31 ancient mills, arranged along the northern banks of the river and monitored by the Ethnological Museum of Monza and Brianza. The park area is characterized by very different environments, but nevertheless united by the strong imprint left by man and his activities. Wonderful forests of locust, hornbeam, farnie, alder and ash trees line the Rio Pegorino.
The fauna, thanks to the variety of environments present, is well diversified, especially as far as birds are concerned. The park can be visited on foot, by bicycle and on horseback by following the marked itineraries.
What to do in the park
The Park Routes: many fascinating tourist routes to be followed on foot or by bicycle through Brianza. From the Park of Monza start the 30-km route to Lake Alserio and the easier routes to the rural landscape between Sovico and Lesmo or from Villa Mirabello to Villa Borromeo D'Adda.
The Lambro Valley Park is also home to many initiatives aimed at enhancing the magnificent territory over which it stretches. Many appointments, in fact, by the GEVs (Guardie Ecologiche Volontarie - Volunteer Ecological Guards), also take place in the evening to observe nature up close and learn to respect it, but also to let you discover and admire all the historical and artistic riches of the Park. Excursions, nature explorations and environmental education initiatives, also aimed at children, take place throughout the year.
Not to be missed, then, "Itineraries in the Lambro Valley Park", a series of trips around Brianza, exploring more or less known places and discovering all their secrets, stories and legends thanks to the stories and explanations of the professional educators who will accompany you along these routes.
It is also possible to live in close contact with the nature of the Park, sailing on the Lambro River in a kayak or observing the sky from the Baggero oasis.
