Villa Torneamento, which stands not far from the center of Monza in the district of San Fruttuoso, is set in a large landscaped park and surrounded by crenellated walls of 'neo-medieval' taste.
Built in the early 1700s and renovated in eclectic style in the following century, it is so named because - according to legend - the ancient lords practiced arms in the very place where it stands. The Villa retains a richly frescoed ballroom and other striking rooms that betray the mansion's past magnificence.
Villa Torneamento became the property of the Religious Congregation of the Daughters of Divine Zeal in 1951, which, with extensive renovations, adapted the building as a schoolhouse.
