The mansion was built for the noble Milanese family of Bagatti Valsecchi, who, to escape the city heat, used to spend summer stays in Brianza in the company of guests and friends.
The building consists of a massive central block on which two lower wings are grafted and covered with terraces. The roof of the main body is surmounted by a small belvedere loggia.
The portico is supported by 15th-century columns from the destroyed Lazzaretto di Milano mentioned by Alessandro Manzoni in his "Promessi Sposi".
The villa is preceded by a scenic perspective avenue and is crowned by an Italianate garden and another in the Romantic style.
