Starting from the Villasanta Gate, Professors fro Univerità Statale will accompany participants to the area between Via Lecco, Viale Cavriga and the Lambro River, one of the lesser known areas of the Park that have been little changed over time.
Along the way, the history, the special characteristics of this area of the Park will be told, as well as the ongoing restoration work and plans for the future.
The project funded by the Historic Gardens call of the NRRP, called History, Research and People, aims to make the restoration of the historic design coexist with the new functions that green areas are called upon to perform.
The project includes the redevelopment, recovery and conservative restoration of the tree-lined avenues that wind from the Cedar Roundabout and the Horse Chestnut Roundabout, and the insertion along the enclosure of twenty patches of native shrubby vegetation to increase the biodiversity of the area, including through the installation of bird and pollinator refuge houses. Project actions also include the allocation of some areas er the formation of flower meadows and the restoration of the furrows of historic irrigation ditches.
The event is being carried out in participation with the Festival del Parco di Monza and will feature talks by Natalia Fumagalli, Denise Corsini and Ilda Vagge, experts in rural land use planning and design, landscape, green areas and green infrastructure.
