Records of the presence in Barlassina of a church dedicated to San Giulio d'Orta date back to the 13th century. The building has been transformed and remodeled on several occasions.
Of particular artistic value is the chapel of the Madonna dell'Aiuto, containing precious paintings by Bernardino Luini from 1527 depicting sacred images. But this ancient and illustrious part is overpowered and by the large octagonal space that was added to it in 1933 to meet the religious needs of a grown and enriched population. That space was painted by one of Europe's most interesting abstract painters, Valentino Vago, who was born in Barlassina.
