The Temple of Speed, which in 2022 turned 100 years lived of racing and full of memories; in 2024 it underwent deep structural work, with the total renovation of the F1 track and the addition of new and upgraded underpasses, to ensure the safety of our fans.

The monument was commissioned by Victor Emmanuel III in memory of the assassination of his father Umberto I on July 29, 1900 at the hands of the anarchist G. Bresci. 

The design was drawn up by arch. G. Sacconi and completed after his death (1905) with substantial modifications by arch. G. Cirilli. The mausoleum, completed in July 1910, is characterized by a monumental staircase leading to the chapel, above which rises a structure, enriched by L. Pogliaghi's bronze Pietà. A terrace leads from the chapel to a secondary staircase leading to the crypt, decorated with mosaics, in which some 180 bronze votive wreaths are kept. 
In the central vault is placed an alabaster disk below a black marble memorial stone at the spot where the king was assassinated. Crowning the memorial is a garden concluded by a mosaic exedra. Framing the memorial are gates designed by artist A. Mazzucotelli, which connect it to the two side access propylaea. The symmetrical composition is reinforced by the road axis, flanked by two large garden areas, which accompanies the visitor and frames the monumental complex from afar.

Hat-making experienced a great increase in Monza between the 1800s and 1900s, so much so that it became one of the city's main manufacturing activities. 
A visit to the cappellificio Vimercati, founded in 1953, will allow visitors to go back in time, venturing into the history of this artisan excellence.

In the first half of the nineteenth century, the Canesi family-Giovanni Battista and his wife Giulia Veronelli-came to live in Monza, at via Carlo Alberto 11: their three children were born here. 
To the two-story house is attached a wide garden designed by the architect. Villoresi, one of the most important gardeners of the Park.  Giovanni Battista is the founder of the Cotonificio of the same name, which will expand to five hundred employees with his son Ernesto.  Historical and autobiographical references are taken from the book Diario di Nonna Giulia "by Carla M. Casanova ed. viennepierre, 2008. Grandmother Giulia (1867-1936) who writes the diary about all the events of the Canesi family is Ernesto's wife.  Spiritual director of the women of the Canesi family is Monsignor Talamoni. 

On the night between December 31, 1898, and January 1, 1899, new electric light fixtures were illuminated in Monza; 80 bulbs were placed in the city, the first being lit in the cavern of the Canesi family's front door at 11 Via Carlo Alberto.

Cultural Visits to the Church and Complex of San Gerardino in Monza

The Complex of San Gerardino stands on the site where in 1174 St. Gerard founded the hospice for the poor sick, adapting his own home. The architectural structure consists of a main body with double loggia, inner courts and oratory, originally dedicated to St. Gerard Inframurano, now St. Gerardino. 

The church was erected between the late fifteenth and early sixteenth centuries and was renovated, with the entire complex, in Baroque forms in 1776; inside the church is a valuable Annunciation attributed to Bernardino Luini, also on the ground floor of the old hospital is preserved the pictorial cycle dating from the eighteenth century with the Stories of the Life and Miracles of St. Gerard, a work attributed to Giovanni Maria Gariboldi.

Of seventeenth-century origin and surrounded by walls in neo-medieval taste, it preserves a richly frescoed ballroom and other striking rooms that betray the mansion's past magnificence.

Situated in the San Rocco district of Monza and, built on the left bank of the Lambro River, the plant purifies the sewage discharges of 27 municipalities in the MB Province and limited portions of the Comasco, Lecco and Milanese areas.

A "biological activated sludge" type plant that treats the wastewater produced by about 600,000 inhabitants and 4,500 production facilities. It is among the largest plants in the Lombardy regional reality and houses examples of some of the most innovative technological solutions.

Contemporaneously with the National Day of Historical Hospitals called by the Associazione Culturale Ospedali Storici Italiani, IRCCS San Gerardo dei Tintori proposes:

Conference "The Spiritual Memory of San Gerardo Hospital" by Prof. Michele Riva concerning the history of the Monza Saint and the religious dedication of the city hospital, with opening speech by the Archpriest of Monza Cathedral Monsignor Maurizio Mosconi. 

Following the talk, visitors will be escorted to the hospital church built in 1896 (usable only from the outside).

Next to the northern transept and the sacristy is the oldest part of the structures that make up the present cathedral of Monza: the "Longobard Tower," a probable defensive element of the palace that Queen Theodolinda had built in the sixth century next to the oraculum dedicated to St. John the Baptist. The tower, used since the 9th century as a bell tower, was incorporated into the Gothic basilica and partly reduced to make way for the present Chapel of Theodolinda at the end of the 14th century.

The Villa Reale of the Royal Palace of Monza was built starting in 1777 by architect Giuseppe Piermarini at the behest of Empress Maria Theresa of Austria, who commissioned its construction as a country residence for her son, Ferdinand.

The visit to the Villa Reale includes a route between the First and Second Noble Floors: a real journey through history from the Habsburgs to the Savoy to the present day, with the Reggia Contemporanea Project and the exhibition of contemporary Art and Design works by internationally renowned artists.

The tour of the Royal Villa is self-guided with narrative interludes by licensed tour guides who tell "in pills" about the protagonists of the past, history and architecture.

A 19th-century neoclassical jewel built to accommodate the Savoy royal family.
The Saletta was built between 1882 and 1884, and is a small jewel of Lombard art. Intended to be used as a waiting room for the royal family, it was used by the sovereigns until August 8, 1900, when, after the July 29 regicide in Monza, it was from here that the King's body was transported to Rome. In the small room, the Neoclassical style takes center stage and time seems to stand still, thanks to the period furnishings and the allegory of the Genius of the Savoy family that adorns the ceiling. 
The spaces, luxurious furnishings, upholstery and paintings that embellish the rooms contribute to the structure's majestic and sumptuous appearance, making it a true museum that the FS Foundation now preserves and manages.

The guided tour, offers an opportunity to discover this valuable seventeenth-century mansion built around 1656 at the behest of the Durini family. The villa consists of two belvedere turrets with a noble and a rustic courtyard; the ballroom occupies two floors in height and is complemented by eight rooms and a loggia. There are numerous frescoes and decorations of considerable artistic value, as well as for the fine wooden coffered ceilings.

Meregalli Group, a wine and spirits distribution company with 170 years of history, began as a tavern in 1856. In the 1970s Giuseppe Meregalli started modern distribution, turning the company into a national reference. Today it is led by the fifth generation with Marcello Meregalli. The headquarters is in the former Convent of Santa Margherita, linked to the Monaca di Monza, which preserves the historic cellar once used for bottling. Today it houses a unique collection of fine labels.

Present in Monza since 1961, the Premiata Torrefazione Cafè Tropical is one of the last Italian companies producing coffee using the ancient artisanal method of wood-burning roasting.
