On the occasion of the general assembly of the Association of European Royal Residences, the Fondazione FS Italiane is promoting the traveling exhibition La Reggia viaggiante, a photographic excursus on the sumptuous Train that once escorted Italian royalty and their distinguished guests. From July 6 to July 31 2024, the exhibition unfolds along an itinerary that touches on the Royal Palace of Milan and the Royal Palace of Monza - the city and country residences of the royals, respectively - which are ideally reunited through the complex railway system.
The common thread of the Royal Train and the royal residences intersects the excellence of Italian arts and "savoir-faire". The exhibition is divided into four thematic levels: history, the work of art, fine Italian work and the work of engineering, through a detailed narrative of the carriages that make up the historic Royal Train.
The materials on display, from the Archives of the Fondazione FS Italiane, include historical and contemporary photographs, original documents and technical drawings.
