The Reggia Contemporanea project presents an astonishing exhibition itinerary featuring more than 100 works of contemporary art and design by some of the protagonists of Italian creativity.
In the perspective of the full enhancement of the Monumental Complex,on December 6, 2022, the preview of the "Reggia Contemporanea" Project was held on the occasion of the first edition of the Festival delle Regioni, organized by the Lombardy Region, in the presence of the President of the Republic, Hon. Prof. Sergio Mattarella, and the Governors of the Regions gathered in the Villa Reale.
On December 7, 2023, Reggia Contemporanea opens: the project to refurbish the Second Piano Nobile and part of the First Piano Nobile of the Villa Reale, with 100 works by leading Italian artists and designers, alongside furnishings and paintings from the Savoy and Habsburg periods. A fascinating journey, where the testimonies of the past are married in a continuous becoming with the excellences of the present.
Reggia Contemporanea stems from what the General Secretariat of the Presidency of the Republic has achieved with Quirinale contemporaneo: a constantly evolving project, strongly desired by President Sergio Mattarella, conceived and implemented by Secretary General Ugo Zampetti, curated by architect Renata Cristina Mazzantini.
