Oratory of Santa Marta

Of the 14th century church of St. Martha,  remains only part of the choir, erected at the beginning of the 18th century and now included in a 20th century building.

Next to the church there were a poor people’s home and a Monte di Pietà (pawnshop), endorsed by Pope Leo X in 1515, that were run by a fraternal order.

St. Martha’s complex was adjacent to the very ancient church of St. Michael, traditionally established by the Longobards; the buildings giving onto the Verziere, the city space dedicated to the fruit and vegetable market, were almost entirely pulled down in the 1920s urban renovation.
