How quickly can the face of a city change?
If we are talking about Monza, the answer is: very, very quickly! In fact, the historic center of the city during the years of the so-called "twenty-year fascist period" was completely disrupted by the construction of new buildings that were to manifest, with new lines and grandiose proportions, the rise of the new ruling power.
In this new itinerary we discover the most significant transformations, amid symbols and new architectural languages, and how today they have become an integral part of the city and its history.

The memory of the city unfolds among its streets, buildings, monuments. But there is a place where, more than any other, the memory of those who animated the city and participated in it in the past is preserved: the Urban Cemetery of Monza, a "new Monumental" on the territory.
Founded after the closure of the old San Gregorio cemetery, it corresponds today to the project realized by architect Ulisse Stacchini in the first half of the 20th century and houses important funerary monuments made - among others - by the famous sculptor Ernesto Bazzaro, Giannino Castiglioni and Antonio Sant'Elia.

The Civic Museums pay tribute to the Marche-based painter on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of his death in Monza, his adopted city, in 1955: an exhibition curated by Alberto Crespi with works from the museum that span decades of his career, between Monza, Paris and Milan, and tell the story of a multifaceted artist against the backdrop of European artistic events of the first half of the 20th century.

How were tools and implements made in the past?
We explore the historic center of Monza in search of "resources" to make the tools used in the past by Monza workers: at each stop we will recall a particular profession and illustrate the artifacts of the past.
When we arrive at the Colombo Mill, an ideal "market" will be set up with the objects produced during the visit.

Along the course of the Lambro River, numerous industrial activities developed over time, and the most famous production would be that of felt hats.
Today in Monza only one artisanal hat factory survives: Vimercati Hats. During the tour, the company's staff will explain to visitors how felt hats are made, while the tour guide will reenact the history of Monza's hat factories and the customs and traditions of this flourishing industry.

The Cederna district of Monza began as a working-class suburb of the city, gathered around the thriving cotton mill business that was based here. Today, with the factory decommissioned, its history is preserved and handed down through the precious material collected by Alfredo Villa and now organized in a large photographic archive available to the city. Thanks to this valuable contribution, we discover the life of this area of the city characterized by the important presence of the urban cemetery, today we could call it "monumental," and significant buildings for the life of the community such as the small church of San Francesco.
