As part of the Monza Photo Fest event, the Civic Museums are hosting a solo exhibition dedicated to photographer Francesca Moscheni. Her work stems from the idea of juxtaposing, merging them, elements common to the three great monotheistic religions born in the Mediterranean area. Being guided by a rigorous secular vision, she carries out a research where images are linked by the thin and tenacious thread of analogies, the strength of signs, and the rigor of geometric references. In the face of the banality of common sense, the stupidity of all forms of hatred and intolerance, these photographs represent a high-profile cultural lesson by pointing to the possibility of observing life in order to grasp the poignant sense of beauty.

The Civic Museums pay tribute to Anselmo Buccia painter from the Marche region on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of his death in Monza, his adopted city, in 1955: an exhibition curated by Alberto Crespi with works from the museum that span decades of his career,between Monza, Paris and Milanand tell the story of a multifaceted artist against the backdrop of European artistic events of the first half of the 20th century. 
The exhibition is organized in collaboration with the Associazione Amici dei Musei di Monza e Brianza ETS and MEMB Museo Etnologico di Monza e Brianza.

Discover at the Civic Museums the interactive area dedicated to the Monaca di Monza: a multimedia project highlighting a key figure in the city's history, through works and documents from the museum, the Civic Library and the Municipal Historical Archives. In an emotional video Alessandro Manzoni tells visitors about his meeting withMarianna de Leyva and the genesis of the birth of the character of Gertrude, with all its load of humanity and pain. Once the video is over, the visitor is invited to meetSister Virginia: thanks to augmented reality, she will directly come to life and narrate the story from her point of view, with her real words taken from the proceedings of the trial that condemned her to segregation. 

The installation is included in the museum's itinerary and can be enjoyed during the days and hours the museum is open.

The history of art looked at from a particular and very interesting point of view, that of the colors employed by artists. Where do the colors come from? Why are some more precious than others? What is their symbolic meaning? What conditions a painter's choice of palette? There are many questions that a subject like this can raise. This series of meetings will provide some answers, with examples drawn from art history of all times, including history, customs, traditions, economics, psychology, chemical processes, perceptual systems, stylistic and iconographic readings.

Photo-report on the People's Uprising in Nepal. Matteo Colombo, Eleonora Ferro, Nicholas Lori, and Samuele Mereu are four young former photography students who went on vacation to Nepal last summer. In those days the popular youth uprising erupted and swept the country. They decided to neglect tourism to devote themselves to photographing the most relevant aspects. The result is an intense four-handed reportage that focuses on the events that took place, certainly, but has the merit of bringing out the faces of the young protagonists.

Not only riots, wars and revolutions will be investigated, but also other aspects, passing from the profound urban changes of Paris to the crime news of New York, from ingenious motion research that anticipated cinema to social investigations that delved into the identity of great nations. But there will also be room for that everyday life made up of small things that photography knows how to capture to make us appreciate the beauty of life.
