The Cloistered Monastery of the Sacramentine Sisters and its church: a journey between art and spirituality
During visits to the church of SS.me Maria Maddalena and Teresa there will be an opportunity to observe and appreciate the many valuable decorative and artistic details that make this sacred place precious. Its history intertwined with that of Monza and beyond, from the orders of the Humiliati to the laws of suppression of the monasteries of the Austrians, French and the Kingdom of Italy, will be told. The figure of Ancilla Ghezzi, foundress of the Order, will be illustrated, and an attempt will be made to raise awareness of the cloistered Monastery of the Sacramentine Sisters; a little-known reality, but one that is open to the world and the city community, including through a help and welcome desk both online and in presence. Cloisteredness is understood as concentration, recollection, silence, not closure.

VILLA PALLAVICINI BARBO', SEAT OF THE COLLEGE OF GUASTALLA

Discovering one of the oldest secular educational institutions in Europe, perhaps the oldest girls' school in the world
During the Fall Days, the school's own students as Apprentice Tour Guides and FAI volunteers will present the College of Guastalla complex, its features and history. In the recently renovated orangery, the life and work of Countess Founder Ludovica Torelli will be presented in the exhibition dedicated to her. The visit will continue in the solemn rooms of the villa that house an extensive Picture Gallery of works from the 17th century. Rare and original documents from the precious archives covering more than 400 years of history, not only and not so much of the college, will be illustrated and are being digitized. It will be possible to visit the chapel transferred from the Milan site and observe the scientific instruments on display in the theater. The visit will end in the park full of ancient trees.

From the "Casa del Balilla" of the 1930s to a modern theater center understood as an artistic and cultural project
During the visit, one will retrace the long and fascinating history of this building-the most modern for the time in Monza and the largest Balilla House in Lombardy-, its dark period during the war, its decadence and its recent rebirth as a theater and a civic, artistic and cultural gathering place. It will be possible to visit the different spaces, from the Chaplin Hall to the more recent Picasso Hall with their peculiarities and equipment. In addition, we will talk about its rationalist architecture, where functionality, new materials and rigorous and simple forms combine perfectly, creating balance and thus beauty. In particular, it will tell what Teatro Binario 7 represents today, first and foremost as a cultural project, how an 'in house' theater production is created, how the theater school based here is articulated and which has about 800 members of all ages.

CHURCH OF SAN MAURIZIO IN SANTA MARGHERITA

The church in which Sister Virginia Maria, Marianna de Leyva, better known as the Nun of Monza

The church, in addition to its considerable artistic value, is significant in that, in the monastery attached to it, between 1591 and 1607, lived Marianna De Leyva, Sister Virginia Maria, whose story, is narrated by Alessandro Manzoni in The Betrothed. The opening is intended to highlight both the artistic value of the property and its historical significance. Under an artistic profile, considerable interest is aroused by the harmonious facade in terracotta and white stone and, inside, the frescoes by Innocenzo Carloni, who was also active in the nearby cathedral. From a historical standpoint, the visit can offer particular excitement to those who are aware that they are entering the church in which Sister Virginia Maria was ordained. Trying to combine the two aspects, the narration by FAI volunteers and the Apprentice Tour Guides will be interspersed with the reading of some passages from The Betrothed.

VILLA PAGNONI, ONE PLACE MANY STORIES

Established as the home of the owner of the "Birra Monza" brewery, today it is the headquarters of the Associazione Ex Combattenti e Reduci

The villa in the early 1900s turns out to have been owned by Enrico Tagliabue, owner of an adjacent brewery that marketed its product under the "Birra Monza" brand. Villa Pagnoni is named after the family that owned it from 1917 to 1939. The Pagnonis were members of that liberal bourgeoisie that was the architect of Monza's industrial development in the second half of the 1800s. Since 1939 the villa has been owned by the "Immobiliare Victoria" company and has been the headquarters, since that date, of the Associazione Ex Combattenti e Reduci. The opening is intended to offer a multi-story reading of the place and its history. The villa and its history in the context of Monza's industrial development will be told, as well as learning about one of the families who lived there and, in particular, a member of the Pagnoni family, author of a diary during the Great War, seen from her particular perspective. There will be an illustration of how the villa became the headquarters of the Association of Ex Combatants and Redoubts and other weapon associations still present, and, in particular, there will be a focus on the history of the Alpine Corps, their role in the present for cultural and solidarity activities, study and research, as well as custodians of memory and values.
