Three in-depth appointments on the use of colors employed by artists. Where do colors come from? Why are some more valuable than others? What is their symbolic significance? What conditions a painter's choice of palette? There are many questions that a subject like this can raise. This series of meetings will provide some answers, with examples drawn from the history of art of all times, including history, customs, traditions, economics, psychology, chemical processes, perceptual systems, stylistic and iconographic readings.

The course aims to cover the history of art from the Renaissance to the contemporary age, with a series of meetings that can also be enjoyed as individual lectures. With a popular and didactic approach suitable even for art neophytes, art history will be revealed through the biographical account of its main protagonists and the analysis of well-known and lesser-known masterpieces.
