THEODOLINDA'S TREASURE RETURNS TO MONZA IN 1345
On the 10th of June, the famous traditional event, will take place along the streets of the historic center of Monza, for the Saint John the Baptist Festival.
The 36th edition of the historic reenactment of the stories of Queen Teodolinda and her treasure, will give birth to a parade featuring precious medieval costumes, animating the city, with music and medieval atmospheres.
Queen Theodolinda and her treasure are in fact the main source of inspiration for this traditional event. The rich and well-documented history of Monza from the 12th to the 15th centuries, offers a number of stories and hiostorical events to remember and represent, giving birth every year to a new representations, with different costumes and components.This year the theme is the Return to Monza, in 1345, of the Theodolinda Treasure, after a 20-year exile in the papal town of Avignon in France.
At 9.00 pm, a picturesque parade will start from Largo Mazzini, going along via Italia towards the Arengario, then going down via Vittorio Emanuele and via Lambro, ending in Piazza Duomo with a final show and presentation of the participating groups. The evening will close with the exciting flight of the Theodolinda's dove from the bell tower of the Duomo.
